Axure (ak shûr) was founded in May 2002 by Victor Hsu and Martin Smith in Berkeley, CA. Victor was an electrical engineer turned software developer turned product manager. And Martin was an economist and self-taught hacker. Working together at an internet startup and trying to build software from PowerPoint, Visio, and Word specifications, they decided there had to be a better way. Axure was born.

The pilot version of Axure RP was released in January 2003 and was one of the first of its kind designed specifically to prototype browser-based applications. Nine years later, Axure RP is considered the standard in software prototyping tools and is used by tens of thousands of user experience professionals, business analysts and product managers in the biggest and best companies around the world.

Today, our home is in sunny San Diego. Victor and Martin get to eat more than ramen and pancakes. And we all get to work together to make Axure great for another nine years.

Phở is a Vietnamese noodle soup served with beef or chicken, rice noodles, basil, bean sprouts, lime, and peppers in an insanely tasty broth. And don't forget the hoisin sauce and sriracha.

As Victor and Martin tell it, when you're releasing software updates in the middle of the night in San Francisco, phở is the best option for a very late night meal. It became a regular thing and the releases all went smoothly. The one time they didn't get phở after a release...well, let's just say it wasn't pretty.

From then on, phở became a company tradition after every major release. And we love it when customers enjoy a bowl on release days, too.
